Week 2: Blogging

Blogs are an excellent example of the read-write power of the Web 2.0 revolution. There are millions of blogs on topics as diverse as humanity itself. Sites like blogger and wordpress allow anyone with a computer (or, these days, a phone!) and a web connection to publish their thoughts out to the world, illustrating with images, video and links to other sites.

Watch the video below by commoncraft on how blogs fit into 21st century communication.

We'll use blogs to document our web 2.0 journey--our brainstorming, our wins, our challenges, our overall impressions. This week, do the following:

  • Create a blog. Blogger is very user friendly and is what we've used for this site. They even have tutorials that can give you some help in getting all set up.
  • Publish your first post. Include your thoughts on how we might use blogs in the training world: a welcome for new hires? individual topic sites hosted by subject matter experts? an executive travelogue called "Where's Bryan?"? Remember--this is the divergent thinking part of the program so the sky is the limit.
  • Use comments on this site to share your new blog address with the other participants.
